Reusable packaging
Imagine you are a producer with many different clients in many different parts of the country. Sending bulk products, or pressure
averse finished goods such as nappies or breakfast cereal, to a supplier would require a large fleet of containers. It would also require
you to collect the empty containers (if you opt for environmentally friendly containers that can be reused) as well as a large stockpile of
empty containers as buffer for peak seasons and as backup when the filled containers lie and wait for weeks at the reseller or final
manufacturer's stockyard.
Container rental and reusable packaging is a time-proven speciality at TrenStar. Its network of national depots offer a very wide range
of reusable packaging which can be hired, de-hired and relocated to any other point in South Africa.
The TrenStar-range consists of standard pool items, explained below, that is stocked, cleaned, maintained and issued by its depot network.
Through this network the producer mentioned above can hire any amount of containers based on its need, load them and send them to a
client and request TrenStar to pick-up and relocate the containers. The process also caters for time-delays between container usage and
return and fluctuation in demand, without the need for large capital outlays to build a pool of containers.
This system also uses TrenStar's CM system to track and manage containers and ensure full
visibility of the containers issued, moved and returned to TrenStar. This cradle-to-grave capability ensures that the client is not stung with a
large bill for unexpected losses, which cannot be disputed.
Standard pool items
Plastic Bins
Our bins are produced from injection moulded polypropylene and come in different sizes for versatile usage. They are equipped with
lockable / sealable lids to avoid pilferage and have unique identification numbers to enable tracking and tracing. Our bins are nestable
for maximum space utilisation. (Used by the FMCG and associated industries, the chemical industry, component manufacturers and the
automotive industry).

Solid Sided Containers
Our solid sided containers come in various sizes and have a splash proof design with high load capacities. The bases are produced from
high tensile steel to accommodate heavy loads in a light weight container. All of them are single piece collapsible units and can be folded
up and stacked in seconds. They are all equipped with unique identification numbers for tracking and tracing. (Used mainly in Automotive,
Component, Associated Industry, FMCG and Chemical Industries).

Mesh Containers
Our pool of mesh containers consists of a broad range of containers of various sizes, featuring a flat mesh surround (Cladding) to ensure
the safe keeping of goods. These containers are robust and have a tremendous load capability on the cladding surrounds. Base and side
frame are produced from high tensile steel, allowing extremely high loads, in light weight containers. They are all equipped with unique
identification numbers for tracking and tracing. (Used extensively in the mining, foundry and manufacturing industries).

Roll Tainers - wheeled units
Our Roll Tainers come in various sizes and heights. They have a galvanized finish, hot dipped and/or electroplated, and robust and long
lasting wheels with rubber tyres to avoid damage to floors. Low pilferage units with lockable / sealable doors of fine mesh cladding.
They can be folded away and nested for space saving. They are ideal for the picking/packing process in warehouses and distribution to
stores across the country. (Used by FMCG and associated industries and the automotive aftermarket parts distribution).

The ALPAL™ Unit
TrenStar SA is the exclusive distributor of the Alpal Unit in Southern Africa. TrenStar chose to add this versatile packaging to its returnable
packaging pool because of its wide range of configurations and applications. The Alpal unit can carry anything from non-hazardous
liquids, to polymer granules, frozen goods, and packed or bulk products.
The Alpal unit offers unique protection of goods while in motion and in storage, by allowing safe stackability without any pressure on the
products it contains. The stackability optimises space utilisation both in warehouse and during the transporting of the unit. The erected
Alpal unit can be stacked up to 8 high (5 high for liquid units) in a warehouse environment, and up to 2.4 meters high when being
transported. It can also be collapsed fully to optimise reverse logistics.
The Alpal unit comes with a four way entry base for easy forklift movement. TrenStar offers three base sizes and various liners and pole
sizes for customer specific requirements. For easy decanting, a bottom emptying option, as well as a tap option are also available.
TrenStar provides a unique identification number on each unit to facilitate tracking and tracing through the supply chain.
A number of TrenStar's customers across industries have embraced this unique packaging unit. These include major national fruit
processors, companies in the oil and liquids industries and manufacturers of, amongst other things, baby products.

The Jumbo Bin
One of the most recent additions to the TrenStar pool of reusable containers is the Jumbo Bin, a popular container in industries such as
agriculture, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and fisheries. Two versions of the Jumbo Bin are available on order, notably a vented
version and a solid-sided version. The Jumbo Bin is 1 276 mm x 1 076 mm large and can carry up to 500 kg or 803 litres.
The Jumbo Bin has been designed to allow for two-way forklift entry, it boasts a patented interlocking design that allows for stackability
and it is made from non-permeable polypropylene that can be dipped.

Specialised Dunnage
Purpose made packaging of varied forms and sizes are custom designed to customers' requirements. They are usually of a precision type,
such as interlayers and cavity packs. These special dunnage can be designed and used in either the standard pool containers/cages or
specifically produced for purpose designed equipment. All dunnage have a unique identification number for tracking and tracing.
(Used specifically for components and products of a precision nature that have to be protected from damage during transport and
processing).
