TrenStar Management Solutions
How do you trust someone to become a business partner? They must prove themselves. How has TrenStar proven itself? By applying the same management principles and technologies it offers to clients to its own massive pool of assets, most notably in managing its whole container rental division.
To better understand the value that TrenStar’s management solutions can offer one should delve into the cutting edge TrenStar Container Management (TrenStarCM)-system, which is managed 24/7/365 by TrenStar’s Command Centre and Helpdesk.
TrenStarCM
Market watchers will be familiar with TrenStar Container Management (TrenStarCM), the system that tracks products through barcodes, barcode scanners, RFID tags and systems and other forms of data capturing (even fax!) to build a cradle-to-grave picture of each container that TrenStar sends to its clients and, in the case of large manufacturers such as Toyota, that TrenStar manages on behalf of clients.
During the last decade and a half this proprietary system has evolved and grown to include more usability, a more modular approach and much more intelligence. The new TrenStarCM-system can, without fear of contradiction, be described as a game changer for customers. With its eyes on a client’s assets and its brain filled with experience and history, TrenStarCM can, amongst other things:
- Track and trace products from pre-manufacturing to client delivery;
- Deliver the information in a multitude of reports, including movement, ageing, average holding, equipment status and master control summary reports;
- Deliver customised reports, that informs a client on actions and variances to standard operation procedures or set business rules;
- Deliver the information in virtually any format and on any device;
- Visually represent the information through, amongst other things, management dashboards;
- Allow full customer access through the web, negating the need for a special software package that would necessitate installation and licence fees.
TrenStarCM also houses many of the previous bolt-on developments that were done for clients, including:
- Proof of delivery notification (POD) – including scanning, database verification, wireless printing of notifications and delivering the information to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system;
- Short shipment notification (SSN) and advanced shipment notification (ASN) – These systems also offer the full suite of capabilities available to POD-users and is widely used in the manufacturing arena;
- Scan confirmation: With this system, enabled by handheld scanners with internet (GPRS) and often navigational capabilities, TrenStarCM can track not only product movement, but also scanning discipline, both on-site and from suppliers.
