Fixed Asset Management
Yes, there are already a multitude of fixed asset management systems available. Some offer very strong financial calculating abilities
and some are sold as bolt-on expansions of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or financial management systems. Many of them
however request the information to be delivered to it and subsequently rely on each office of each division in each company in a larger
group to still manually count and account for the fixed assets under its control.
TrenStar has taken a different course in the development of its flagship FAM system. With many years and millions of tracked container
movements under its belt, it has developed a system to keep an eye directly on the assets in a company, whether by reading barcodes
with web-enabled mobile scanners or by tracking each asset with a radio frequency identification tag (RFID), which would allow one to
take stock with a small number of handheld scanners and one or two mobile antennae to track the mobile assets such as laptops.
TrenStar FAM uses the same server system and network intelligence to collate the collected data, in real time, and offer the information
via a web-based interface. Using the power of the web allows TrenStar FAM users to access reports, set business rules, monitor abuse,
monitor rental and repair movements and even zone asset checks, all without the need for proprietary software that only resides on one
or two computers and that would need yearly licence fees.
The true beauty of TrenStar FAM lies in its scalability and rental structure. The specialised programmed barcode and RFID scanners can
be rented on demand, such as during a stock take, and barcodes and RFID tags can be ordered when required. In the same way the
system can be scaled to include different offices on different sites and even different companies in the same group. The system is
equipped with business intelligence and can therefore deliver in-depth analysis without long processing times.
TrenStar's FAM is equipped with different asset depreciation models, which allows the user to run different depreciation models to that
of its financial system. The system is further supported by training manuals, on-site training and 24/7/365 web and call centre assistance.
