Prestigious Platinum Logistics Achiever Award for Vein-to-Vein Logistical Service Clinched by SANBS-TrenStar Partnership
TrenStar has been recognised by its industry peers as a leader in the application of world-class supply chain principles when it was awarded the ultimate praise in the form of a Platinum Logistics Achiever Award with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) at the 27th Annual Logistics Achiever Awards on October 8, 2015.
Much like the Oscar of the film industry, the Platinum Award is the pinnacle of achievement in the logistics industry. Platinum status implies achievement beyond excellence and represents success over extended periods of time demonstrating sustainable and continued professional development and distinction.
TrenStar entered this year’s competition with its client, SANBS for which it provides the Blood on a Returnable Solution (BRB). TrenStar aimed to prove from the outset that it could create a reliable, flexible and smart supply chain to optimise a valuable limited resource that is often overlooked until it is too late – blood. Using a vein-to-vein approach where blood is collected at blood donation centres around the country, securely transported, stored in blood banks and then dispatched to the patient when needed; TrenStar’s solution now provides full visibility and support to SANBS where a previously ineffective supply chain once stood.
“The thought of someone dying because they could not access blood is what drives us,” says SANBS Chief Operations Officer Ravi Reddy. “We are very proud to have been associated with this project and to be recognised as a partner in receiving the prestigious award.”
“It is a great honour to be recognised with a platinum award for the work TrenStar achieved through our innovative collaboration with clients like SANBS; what a dynamic team to work with.” TAP du Plessis, CEO TrenStar.
